2022 has had plenty of upheavals for me. I embrace all of them as being for my good and have decided to run in the direction of change that is Truth, Light and Love.
GETAWAY
But in the midst of all that change, I realize that my soul needed a break and some restoration. Sooooo after much contemplation, I booked a flight to Cancun, Mexico on Saturday, nails and brows on Sunday. On Monday, I reserved my room and my beautician answered my 911 call, came to my house and did my hair! 🙌🏽Tuesday I was there!
GRACE
God was so gracious to me. He truly supplies all my needs. It wasn’t until I was boarding my plane that I realized I hadn’t secured shuttle service. So my cousin handled that for me. My driver’s name was Moses as in “Tell old Pharaoh to let my people go”. 😏 Even the decision to not rent a car was on point! My GPS was like ummmm “No habla donde vamanos” : translation: idk where we going (ain’t we taking a break🙄) 😂
WEATHER
I was telling Uber passengers that I had booked my flight and they said their son was there and it had rained on them the whole trip. Well, my reality is that it rained in Birmingham (flooded even) all while I was gone. Yet in Cancun it was clear sunny skies with a nice East wind 💨 blowing off the Gulf of Mexico.
Pulling in to the resort, I went down this long narrow road. It was more than a mile off the main road and tucked off. Moses pulled up to the bamboo laced gate and waited for a concierge to take our information and let us in. I was greeted by a bell man who took my bag from the car and escorted me to my room. I was given flip flops 🩴 at check-in, which were my main footwear for the duration.
The lights at night through the resort were amazing. It gave warmth and safety and highlighted what may be overlooked during the day!
As I walked through, there was a quiet party going on. People we’re dancing together and occasionally blurting out lyrics. They each were wearing headsets that glowed. THAT was cool and made me chuckle.
There were cabanas on the beach. But I preferred the ones that were near the lobby. They were swinging from the ceiling and above a water flowing fountain. Ahhh 😌
The resort was all inclusive and I did everything I could. When I travel, I like to go to places I haven’t been but this is worthy of a repeat in my future. Next time, I will make sure I blend my own smoothie on the bike. I will not miss the water aerobics and I will do the kayaking at the resort. There were external ATV & Boating excursions, but not for me on this trip. They even had a building for kids activities. The way I smiled as I walked on by! My children are now intimating with adulthood in their own home. 5, 6, 7, 8 💃🏼 🕺🏿
This was such a well needed “I’m not available” break. The title of this blog was inspired by the words that named my building and was right below my room: Livin’ It Up!
I did Zumba, walked the beach, laid in the cabana breeze. There was an outdoor concert with pool side entertainment. The food did not disappoint and the place was clean. People were constantly cleaning. It felt a little like Fantasy Island.
The Spa! The Spa!
My chosen treatments were hydrotherapy (HT), massage and a facial. The HT was new to me. It consisted of a shower, sauna (to open pores), steam room (to detox), shower, cold bath (to close pores), and jacuzzi to relax my muscles. OMGeeee I was super relaxed!
God I thank You for the time away to behold Your beauty! You reign forever and thank You for the time, times and half a time. Your strong East Wind 💨 over the waters is welcomed. Your Kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven!
