Free Man’s Town: Charleston

THE ROAD

Well, before this excursion, I had never been to Charleston, SC! It’s name means free man’s town. I came to do the Wild Blue Ropes and consider it done! The drive out I-20 from Atlanta was pretty. When I exited the interstate and began the track to I-26, it all seemed so familiar. I mean it seems every time I have been to a beach city, I must needs go through these remote country towns. It looks like the Dukes of Hazzard and I’m bound to see Roscoe “Pico” Train. Then out of nowhere the city blossoms and all the other noticeable tourism.

THE ROOM

Well, I rolled in with the rain. So I prayed. I made good time. I was able to check in to my hotel and was early (ah ah ahem)… I was EARLY to the Wild Blue Ropes! What a great feeling! Immo do that more! 😂😂😂 Wait, wait! I stayed in a Home2Suites by Hilton and it cost me $7.39! 😂 #Winning! (I redeemed a free room via my Hotels.com app)🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

I took a special liking to the efficiency of the kitchen space. I keep these things in mind for my Airbnb.

THE ADVENTURE

It was misty and overcast. Just right to pull out my handy dandy scarf!

THE MINDSET

To start it was like:

Me: “Guhl, what are you doing?”

Me2: “Shut up!” but said with royal authority of “SILENCE!!!”

And there you have it. I began walking on air (yeah ropes, wood and cables, blah blah, blah). I’m here and up here, KIM:KeepItMoving! And that I did. I took a phone call up there and then realized I needed to focus. Funny how distractions work and don’t work. SELAH! Selah again!!

There were 3 levels of difficulty and I did all three. I must admit, I love my age but I love even more that I don’t act or think old!

I never fell. But it was one obstacle I looked at and said NO to. It looked like rope climbing with knots 12 times laterally. Nope, I was not about to shart myself 30 feet in the air 12 times! The toughest one was the last one: these imbalanced pieces of wood that I could not figure out how to balance on and step to the next. So I stepped across on the dangling rope below and squished my member of management every time. She’ll recover. 🤷🏽‍♀️We had to get across. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The Descent

I floated down. Hook 🪝 on, sit in your harness and float. I hope this video uploads. It was the most talking I did. Ya girl had to be sure she heard the instructions right! 6.5 hours from any family means “Ask the question again!”. 😂

THE TAKEAWAY

I did this inaugural SEE:KIM getaway to experience a new level of my personal freedom. Freedom can be in groups, couples or solitary. Today my freedom came out of thin air and I held on to it by a rope. 😏

One of my favorite lines in Coming to America was given by James Earl Jones: “Who told you that?”

When it comes to limitations, be they self imposed or societal, answer the question 👆🏽but most importantly answer the call!

We are free people born with free will! Live life and life more abundantly! Anything speaking contrary to that?!!!! SILENCE!!! -Me2
