Compound Movements

This is the phrase used by my trainer Previously, I knew them as supersets. But I am loving the phrase for it depicted my day which was typical yet unique. Compound movements popped up all over the place and they stood out like an edited flashing highlight reel!

IN TRAINING

Not gonna give all the sauce, but I did a dumbbell row and tricep extension laying face down on the bench. This CM worked with gravity and burned my arms. Trainer said, fall in love with the burn! 🔥 Ok paradigm, let’s shift! ITSTIME

POST WORKOUT

Next I turned on my LYFT! What a great time for mo money, mo money, mo money! Today I delivered packages 📦 to a couple of companies. This allowed me to have meaningful conversations with my passengers, I mean packages, in tow.

Most notable passengers, where these 2 young ladies I met on back to back trips. One was a single 17 year old mother. She stated that Thanksgiving has too much drama and went on to tell me how she was raised by her grandmother who was not letting her go anywhere and be with her friends. Fast forward after 2 years of dating someone 3 years older than her, she has his baby, he goes to the military to avoid jail and marries someone else.

The other was a 20 year old biracial girl she is having a tough time with the white side of her family who, according to her, is racist and basically old fashioned. They clash on many other levels for she was also a DHR baby for 14 years.

The mother, I got to encourage her with perspective. I used a friend’s analogy. If you had to walk through a maze and you knew at the end you would get $25,000 who would you chose: people that’s been through the maze or folks that have never gone through? After she said, she would choose the ones who have been thru, I told her that her parents have been through the maze and her friends have not. Her parents are trying to tell her how to avoid dead ends. I asked her if she wanted to know the secret to getting through the maze. She shook her head with wide eye eagerness. The secret is obedience. I saw the wind go out her sails but she was still listening in the boat. So I said let me make obedience less heavy. “You like it that I’m obedient. According to the instructions you gave me, I’m picking you up and taking you exactly where you want to go. I’m obeying the laws and driving on the right side of the interstate. However, I could crossover on the other side and play chicken with all the other cars and still get you to your destination. I’m sure I would laugh, cause accidents and you would probably make a mess in my back seat”. I think she got the point of the beauty of obedience. There’s a lot more to this story but God gave me this Compound Movement and moment to speak into her life and create a paradigm shift.

ONCE WAS BLIND

I sympathize with this passenger but offered her insight and methods to better help her cope. Proverbs say “wisdom is the principal thing, but in all thy getting, get understanding“. It does not say get understood. The arguments they had been having where not her fault. Basically she’s at a place where she will benefit in not offering disagreement but simple acknowledgement or silence. I told her that if she GIVES understanding, God will give her people who understand her. Actually she already is receIving that: her apartment houses other people just like her.

BACK THAT THANG UP

A few days ago I took a young man to Montgomery. It was a late night run, extra cash and I almost thought twice about it. I left Birmingham at 10:50 for the 1.5 drive, dropped him off and turned right back around for home and arrived at 2 am. My passenger talked on the phone 80% of the trip. I‘m glad I didn’t back out of the trip because when I arrived he extended a fist 👊🏽 pound and said, “alright Ms. Kim, let me pray for you”. Cha Ching! Jackpot compound movement!

The ride back was easy because my brother, who actually turned this ride down and extended it to me, called to check on me and talked me all the way back home! But hey, that compound movement of me under the covers at home was the grand prize winner!

BLESSINGS ON BLESSINGS

There is a sound used on TIKTOK that says, “even if you are not ready for the day, it cannot always be night”. These are COMPOUND MOVEMENTS that I do when no one is around or watching. EL ROI: God sees! I thank God for his compound movements of Salvation, Love, Joy, Peace and a sound mind
