Can I talk to you for a moment?
For those of you that don’t know, I am a licensed minister. This sermonette walked up out of me during a phone conversation yesterday. I Honor the Holy Spirit by writing it down.
It’s been a minute since I wrote one. I had fun with this using alliteration of “PR”. I was taught that such language components help attract attention and help the audience remember the message’s key elements. This is a little thick but it will keep you warm. 😊
2 Samuel 7:1-17
The PR of God: Premise,Promiscuity and Promise by Kim Davis Williams 10/25/2021
God Publicly Relates (PR) via man’s Premise,Promiscuity and Promise. What’s in each of us must come out!
Let’s begin with a little vocabulary:
Premise: a previous statement or proposition from which another is inferred or follows a conclusion; assumption
Promiscuity: the state of having many transient (short term) sexual relationships
Promise: a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing will happen.
Procure: to obtain something with care or effort.
…those 4 words Preached the gospel of Jesus Christ to me from the jump!
PREMISE
This PPP can be seen in the life of David. He began his life operating under the Premise or assumption (his and others) that he would merely be a shepherd boy. Little did he know he: · Was privately practicing to slay giants with slingshots, · Would be the subject or prime hook of victory songs when he slayed thousands in battle, · Was prudently preparing to reign as King of Israel and primary recipient of the Promise of God.
PROMISCUITY
Promiscuity is what no one wants to talk about. Let’s tackle it now. Who knew the faithful one who killed Goliath and the one who would not kill Saul would be promiscuous with his best soldier’s wife and have him killed to cover his perverse proclivities? Not David? Yes, David! Who knew? Who knew that both the betrayer and benefactor could inhabit the same person? God knew. Since we were born in sin and shaped in iniquity, spiritually human virginity still renders us promiscuous... cheating on God. SELAH
What is in us must come out of us to obtain the Promises of God! Why? Because Jesus is the door of the sheepfold, preventing access to thieves WHILE cleaning the sheep. John 10:1-10
PROMISE
As God procured us with the Gift of Jesus, His promise is full of provision, it gives love to His progeny and it is proven. Since the promises of God are Yes and Amen, seems like the sooner we provoke God with “yes and amen”, the sooner we can obtain his promises. But this requires death. Yes Jesus died for our sins but we who are alive must die to self…How? The prerequisite is to bury those premises that once gave direction and promiscuities that brought destruction and look up to his promises.
Let us Hide His word in our heart that we will not sin against God. The context of these promises begins as David desires to build a temple for God to dwell among man. May you have eyes to see God’s promise resurrected from the prospective and thru the prism of man instead living with God: Proven, Protecting & Present in our hearts and private practices.
Now how’s that for PUBLIC RELATIONS?!!! He is in us and must come out! Greater is He that is in me than he that in in the world! What exceeding great and precious promises God will bring out of us!!!
Praise God!
